The viking tour
A fun adventure where you have a good time with the Icelandic horses, the old nordic breed that was imported to Iceland by the vikings around year 870 and has been isolated here for the last millennium. The vikings brought the best horses with them to Iceland, and ever since they’ve been bred for being comfortable mounts to ride on in all sorts of terrain in a country that had no roads. And the horses also became friendly, yet polite, in a country with no predators for horses. We ride in the Flokadalur valley, that is so deeply connected to the history of when vikings settled Iceland, in the mountains of the Trollaskagi area (“The peninsula of giants”, named so for the striking mountains), in an area famous for still weather and good weather in summertime, and snow in the wintertime. We can adjust the length of the ride, the speed, the terrain and the way we go, to the guests, so the tour is comfortable and fun for both beginners as well as experienced riders.
