What other things to do close to us.
Langhus horse tours – it is a personal unique experience to come on a horse tour with us.
But you might want to do more fun activities in our neighborhood than taking an Icelandic horse tour at Langhus.
In our neighborhood there are various activities offered, especially in the summertime. And there are many scenic places and breathtaking nature areas here, we live in a panorama picture. Enjoying the Tröllaskagi (Troll peninsula) is such a once in a lifetime chance to go off the beaten path in Iceland.
You can then search for What to do in Northern Iceland / Troll peninsula / Siglufjordur / Dalvik / Skagafjordur on Google.
BUT these are some things that we highly recommend:
- Swimming pools with geothermal water and wonderful hot tubs. If you’re shy, just use the bathrooms in the changing rooms to put the swim suit on, or have a friend stand with a towel by you as you shower. You can enjoy the little local swimming pool at Sólgarðar. Or the geothermal infinity pool in Hofsos and Ólafsfjörður swimming pool. The natural baths at Grettislaug and Reykjafoss are also amazing.
- You can enjoy various guided tours and activities with Sóti summits. Tours like electric mountain biking, heli-skiing, guided hiking tours, boat tours, skiing tours / courses, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, private tours, and ending the day at their hotel with hot tub and more is also perfect.
- Icelandic farm animals zoo at Brúnastaðir farm. It’s a wonderful petting zoo that children love, parents and animal-loving adults too. They also have a jumping balloon and children’s zip line close by. And a country store with the own farm products.
- The Drangey island tours with the option of sea angling in Skagafjordur and to Drangey island with it’s millions of nesting birds (f.ex. puffins) are very popular. It’s so many things in one tour: Ocean sailing, a wonderfully well guided tour, history / legends / stories, breathtaking views, an old historic hiking trail, and more.
- Historical museums like the fun Automotive museum in Stora-gerdi and the Herring era museum in Siglufjordur and Glaumbær turf house museum.
- Whale watching at Icelandic whale watching Hauganes One of the absolutely best whale watching tour in Iceland, or even the world, and a hidden gem, not like some of the mass market whale watching operations.
- Hike on your own in the mountains (we can f.ex. tell you how to find the rather secret, and medieval, trail Póstleiðin up to the Siglufjörður mountain pass).
- On Google maps you can find the easily accessible waterfalls Mígandifoss and Bólugil, the cliffs Staðarbjörg basalt columns, the turf church at Grafarkirkja, the beautiful lakes Stífluvatn and Miklavatn.
- The town Siglufjörður is incredibly beautiful with it’s colorful buildings in the town center, amazing mountain background scenery, and beautiful little harbour.
- The road between Siglufjörður and Langhús farm is a wonderful photographic journey.
- The community is rural, there is a lot of space, but with several villages, so you can enjoy the nature and the freedom at the same time as getting everything you need without much effort.
