Are you a bit short on time, but want to squeeze in a fun experience and meet and ride the famous Icelandic horse?
The whole experience begins with a free preparation intro/lesson on how to ride the Icelandic horse, so you and the horse can be a good team for the ride. Then you go out on an approx. 1 hour trail ride. There are complimentary refreshments (tea. coffee, hot chocolate) after the tour.
The Icelandic horse is the oldest purebred breed in the world, it is the same horse as the vikings rode on a millennium ago. It is natural, healthy and hardy and loves being outdoors in nature all year round. Since there are no predators for horses in Iceland they are simply gentle, friendly and love everyone, both people and other horses. They also evolved a special gait (way to move), which is comfortable for the rider and totally natural for the horses.
In summer we start with riding off road, in the beautiful meadows of Flokadalur valley’s landscape, with breathtaking mountains in the background. We see various plants, flowers, usually some special subarctic bird species like golden plover, whimbrel and more. It is a guided tour, and we can chat with you and tell you about various things we see, the unique ancient Icelandic horse, the nature, culture in Iceland, history, farming or other things you are curious about.

In winter we are on a gravel trail, but still surrounded with the same wonderful truly Icelandic views.

The whole horse experience (intro, lesson, ride, complementary refreshments) is approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Add-on option: Icelandic traditional waffle lunch with a variety of drinks:
On top of this it is super popular to add on getting Icelandic tradional heart-shaped waffles with a choice of toppings, as many per person as you like. Toppings are either homemade blueberry jam, or the traditional Icelandic way (with homemade rhubarb jam), also whipped cream (if you like), or simply Nutella chocolate spread, pancake sirup or maple sirup. Also with good real coffee, a choice of teas, or hot chocolate (with cream if you like), and carbonated fizzy water if you like.
